Corvairs were new and cool. So
were the Beatles. And so was the new-WRIT and Tex Meyer.
This aircheck is pure 60's Milwaukee.
So hey - when was the last time you heard a Pulaski High School shout out on
the radio? And how 'bout that reverb?
And jingles almost as long as the songs?

Wonderful, WRITeeee |
Listen for the old "say it with
flowers" jingle,
Emperor Rothman
doubling as 'erudite announcer', ... and beer commercials - on
the radio!
Many thanks to Gary Gorlewski
for unearthing this gem.
As with all our aircheck exhibits, songs have been 'scoped out' in
lieu of royalty payments,
but the commercials, WRIT promos and all of Tex's wonderful rap are
in tact.
Enjoy!!

More on Tex Meyer ...
We
believe Tex came to WRIT from WYNR Chicago in 1964, staying until
early 1972. In 1972 he moved to WOKY as music director and p/t air personality.
Later he became a General Manager and held positions in Pittsburg (B-94) until around 1998 and
then on to
Virginia. Bill Shannon ran into Tex in Nashville in 1996 with his then P.D. Buddy
Scott (B-96 Chicago, etc). Bill says it is the first time he'd met Tex and told him he was fondly
remembered from his days at WRIT and WOKY. "Nice guy" says Bill.
More on Tex Meyer from Tex himself (9/20/06) ...
Greetings to everyone. Especially Jim Kagan & Jack Gallo -
great guys.
I'm now Market Manager for Clear Channel Radio, Roanoke/Lynchburg, VA.
I love the city I was born in and my Mom & sister still live in the
area.
Let me know what I can do to help your website, WMBH.
My best, Tex.
Thanks Tex and we are in touch!
